Black Clash: Mahela Jayawardene caught off last ball as Team Cricket edge Team Rugby

Mahela Jayawardene

Team Cricket settled a score in winning the second Twenty20 Black Clash after toppling Team Rugby by two runs in a tense thriller that went to the last ball in Napier on Friday.

Needing three from the final delivery, Sri Lankan batting great Mahela Jayawardene was 50 not out and poised to lead Rugby to victory again after their triumph in the inaugural Black Clash last year.

Former Black Cap Jacob Oram (3-17) was bowling the final over for Cricket and Jayawardene, who was exhausted and sheepishly running between the wickets, slapped him for two fours to start with.
