Black Caps wary of Sri Lanka star Angelo Mathews ahead of day two

Whether the Black Caps can remove Angelo Mathews early on day two could have a massive say in who triumphs in the Boxing Day test. Mathews will resume on 27 on Thursday with Sri Lanka 88-4 in response to New Zealand’s first innings total of 178 at Christchurch’s Hagley Oval.

  1. Anji can make this a career defining innings and series but doing the job tomorrow. He has been fiddling around without really making much of an impact for a while now until the 1st rest against NZ where he scored over 200 runs to secure us a draw. Take the Eng series where he scored 3 fifties but had little or no impact on the games but right here right now, he can be a real hero! It’s a 50/50 game right now with another wicket exposing the tail including Dikka. If Anji can knock up a meaningless innings tomorrow, it could set up a potential match and series defining lead so what better chance than to make it count now.
