  • Interesting question there. Thisara played with Sanath in his ODI debut in 2009 but not with Vaas who last played an ODI in 2008

  • 1. Sanath Jayasuriya

    2. TM Dilshan

    3. Aravinda De Silva

    5. Mahela Jayawardena (C)

    6. Angelo Mathews

    7. Thisara Perera

    • Except for Aravinda, is it possible that the rest have all played in the same team at some stage? Not sure if Thissera played alongside Sana and Vass but the rest of the dream team when were top dogs.

    • Thisera needs to prove his value a bit more before he is included in the all time XI. He on the rise but still can he sustain it. Also death bowling issues need to be fixed

  • Thanks Vimukthi

  • You got some valid points there. Shami and Ishant have more upright actions but Bumrah who was the match winner in Australia isnt really your hit the seam bowler. That’s why I feel Lakmal, Pradeep and Kumara would be a better attack if they can maintain pressure for prolongued spells. Don’t forget they had NZ 6 down for 60 odd on a green top and…[Read more]

  • How unfair it is for a bowler to go through this when there are other suspected bowlers who have not been tested? ICC has some serious questions to answer in terms of fair play for every nation and player

  • I have been following Sri Lanka cricket for over 20 years now. I mean, pretty much every single game, every tour and every little detail. And for anyone who has followed Sri Lankan cricket can safely say this is […]

    • Agreed with the attitude issue but our pace attack is the same as the Indians? Just look at the release of the ball and seam presentation for the difference between these two pace attacks – they are world apart. “Current SL set up has great talent” – cannot believe we still keep fooling ourselves with this nonsense – we are out of automatic qualification of the next t20 WC and probably the same for the 50 over and yep – certainly have plenty of talent.

On the attitude, there is a lot of think about. Our state of mind is extremely poor. Numerous times when two batters put up a stand and appear to have a chance to apply some pressure, one gets run out. Put some pressure on the opponent and manufacture a chance only to drop a dolly. Need to use the head folks and stop playing like kids.

Don’t forget they had NZ 6 down for 60 odd on a green top and got them bowled out for 170. So I dont see any major worries there. They got the pace and they move the ball.

If this team did beat India in champions trophy in England quite comprehensively, won in Australia and South Africa in t20s, there is no reason why they can play consistently good cricket.

    • On point, a good interesting write up

    • Stormy, you never suprise me with your typical comments. I am sure people who have been on this site are not surprised by your pessimistic comments. As usual I find your comments reflect your ever changing mindset and your pathetic Wasi Pathata Hoya attitude.
When we win you seem to play a different tune and when we are on the other end you make all this doom amd gloom fatalistic comments.
Just want to remind everyone here in case they think I am being too harsh on stormy. This guy is the one who said when Marvelous Marven Attapattu was appointed as our coach. His comments were “He is the best Coach to coach Srilanka “. When Marven was sacked he said “good riddance and he is not a good coach ”
You are so good with your backflips you make Ashley Watson look like child’s play. If our fearless leader wanted someone to be his ally for the next election he should come and look for you.
As per the article I believe we have the team except we don’t have a decent legspinner. If we get Angelo and lets hope Akila Dhanjaya will be back and pick the team based on Horses for courses like picking players like Sadeera Samarawickrama who is best suited for the one day format we are much better team.
I do agree every Srilankan supporter is hurting because of our team’s pathetic performance. But having the believe is a beautiful thing. I believe we can turn the corner. Because except you all Srilankan supporter believe that we are much better team than what we see on the field.
You don’t need me to tell you that winning is an attitude it’s because our team’s morale is currently at a lowest ebb hence it reflects what we see that on the field. When they start to win games it will all change.
In regards to Indian bowling attack it’s because Australian batsmen are in a similar situation like us now. They didn’t take them on like English batsmen did because they were relying so heaviely on Smith who is not playing.
Remember that they lost to England 1 -4 .
