Although, our chances are low in this world cup, our childhood heroes have made us crazy cricket fans to still have hopes. If we are to have a chance, main thing to be careful would be the batting order, at least to win 5 out of 9 matches in the 1st round.
- Dimuth Karunaratne(c)
- Lahiru Thirimanna / Avishka Fernando
- Kusal Mendis
- Dananjaya de Silva / Thisara Perera
- Angelo Mathews
- Kusal Perera (wk)
- Jeevan Mendis
- Thisara Perera
- Isuru Udana
- Lasith Malinga
- Nuwan Pradeep / Suranga Lakmal
Dhananjaya is not a power hitter to score big in the last overs, but he’s good at building the inning. Kusal Perera performs better in the lower order.
Thisara has scored 80 and 140 in his last two ODIs against New Zealand. Therefore, Thisara should be promoted up the batting order against New Zealand. However, if we need an additional fast bowler for other matches, Thisara will have to make way for him.
