India have named a 15-member squad for the T20 World cup. The biggest surprise was the return of Ravichandran Ashwin after being in the international white-ball wilderness for four years and two months. The selectors made an even bigger call on Wednesday, naming former skipper MS Dhoni to mentor the team at the World Cup, hosted by India but held in the UAE in Oct-Nov. While considering this interesting move, it is fair to dream and expect a similar scenario for Sri Lanka as well. We have much better and experienced options available. Lasith Malinga, the leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals will be a priceless inclusion for our bowling unit which is in-experienced but performing nicely at the moment. Mahela Jayawardena’s presence as a mentor will only be a positive for us. If the Administration manages to convince him for the job at least for the World Cup will be a huge boost to the players as well as the cricket-loving public in the country. Hoping for the best!
