Sri Lanka vs. Pakistan

Introduction

It’s time for Sri Lanka vs Pakistan! Two cricketing nations who love playing against each other lock horns once again from 16th July 2022 up until 28th July 2022 for two test matches (2022). This is going to be an interesting series for many reasons. Shall I tell you why?

What to Expect

Sri Lanka and Pakistan are 3rd and 4th respectively on the ICC World Test Championship table (2022) hence this series provides valuable points for both teams. With that said, expect this series to be a hard-fought one. Moreover, this series is happening in Sri Lanka hence spin will play a major part but the two teams involved are subcontinent nations and they play spin well. As a result, both teams will have to play smart cricket in order to win.

Head to Head

Sri Lanka and Pakistan have played each other 55 times in test matches. Out of those 55, Pakistan has won 20 while Sri Lanka has won 16 with the remaining 19 matches ending in a draw (Mykhelcom). The stats are pretty even with Pakistan just slithy above Sri Lanka. Furthermore, out of those 55 matches 23 have been played in Sri Lanka with Pakistan winning 8 and Sri Lanka winning 7 while the other 8 matches were drawn (- et al.).

Where the Matches could be Won and Lost

This series could be decided on the smallest of differences. On the batting front, both teams will depend on their experienced batsmen such as Babar Azam and Azhar Ali for Pakistan and Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, and Dinesh Chandimal for Sri Lanka. However, the strengths of both team on the bowling front is completely different. Pakistan who has always had a good pace attack will depend on their seamers hence the new ball will be crucial for them. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will rely on their spinner to do the damage though inexperienced.

So what do you think of the series? Who will win?
