Lions vs. Tigers
Introduction
The Tigers take on the Lions! It’s Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka starting from May 15th, 2022 until May 27th, 2022 for a 2 match test series (2022). Sri Lanka last toured Bangladesh back in 2018 and a lot has changed since then. Let’s look into what has changed since then, shall we?
Summary
Since 2018, Bangladesh has improved significantly as a cricketing nation and is above Sri Lanka in the ICC ODI and T2o rankings (Icc). They have grown remarkably and have become a force to be reckoned with. On the other hand, Sri Lanka has struggled since 2018 to find consistency in its performance. The island nation has, however, enjoyed test cricket, the only format in which their ranking is higher than the Tigers (Icc).
Head to Head
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have played 22 test matches against each other with the Lions winning 17 of them while the Tigers have won just 1 with 4 other matches ending in a draw (Mykhelcom). The stats sure favor Sri Lanka but we have to remember that the 1 win for Bangladesh and 2 out of the 4 draws have come from the last 5 matches played between these two teams (2022). This added information sure does open a new perspective and further solidifies Bangladesh’s improvement as a cricketing nation.
What to Expect
This series sure does hold the prospect of being a thriller! Both teams haven’t had great form coming into the series with both of them losing their most recent assignment (2022). As a result, both teams will be desperate for wins, and given that this series is part of the ICC World Test Championship (2022) it will add to their desperation.
Conclusion
Not so long ago, this series would have been seen as a walk in the park for Sri Lanka but times have changed. Today, this series promises to be an even contest between the two teams.
