His batting avg for 2023 has been 18. He does get wickets, but as a medium pacey he is more a liability in subcontinent pitches. Worst, his fielding has deteriorated too. Can’t deny he has been one of the better captains in recent times and responsible for some of the success but is it time to look past him for a number 7? A spinning allrounder at 7 will give us a lot more balance for the WC?
I think he deserves to play out Asia cup, but if he doesn’t find form, we would just keep him purely on hope. His avg has been below 30 since he started playing full time. Just not enough for ODIs where we need to score 300 plus to give a fight these days.
