The case of the missing cutlery in Dambulla

Close to $450 worth of cutlery has gone missing at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium during the ongoing Micromax triangular series.

Somehow, an individual, or individuals managed to slip out with a large quantity of forks, knives and spoons which was used by the catering company for meals for players, officials, dignitaries and the media despite high security at the venue, according to The Island.

Sri Lanka Cricket may have to foot the bill.

A complaint had been lodged with Dambulla police and the loss incurred by the caterer is estimated to be Rs. 50,000.

Unprecedented security measures put in place for cricket grounds in the last 18 months have come in for heavy criticism, but cricket authorities have continued the lavish spending regardless.
