Sri Lanka’s Chances at the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2010

Winning – 0
Final – 1/10
Semi-Final – 1/10

I gave us a 1/10 chance of entering the final because T20 is such a shit format of cricket that on their day a team full of 11 Mubaraks will beat any team. That is why it’s the same for semi finals as well. If we are to not account for that, I seriously believe we have zero chance of even entering a semi final as our team is in such disarray.

The forty year old minister seems to be well set for the opening role while Jeewantha Kulathunga, the best batsman in SL domestic cricket this year cannot find a spot in the final 15. Sanath will probably score a 50 against a team like Bangladesh (do we play them, by the way?) and then continue to fail when it matters. Mahela seems to have decided that he will score runs in limited overs cricket only if he gets to open, but good luck with that while the minister is in. Dilly will still get to open at the other end, and we shall find out whether he really have lost his purple patch or not. Either way, only one man cannot win matches everyday. Sanga hasn’t played a single good innings since couple of blinders on roads in India, but then again he never was one for anything other than Tests. Mathews is yet to become a true match winner, and Malinga seems to be in brilliant form only when he plays for Mumbai. Mendis is no mystery anymore and Murali is only a shadow of what he used to be.

Prepare some speeches Sanga, you’re going to need them.
