  1. If Akila Dananjaya was there
If Akila Dananjaya was there at nO.7 west indies would have been bowled out for around 200 in the first test it was a poor choice choosing Dilruwan Perera.

  2. Not sure what they will do
Not sure what they will do for subsequent tests given this one is not half way other than Dhananjaya De Silva coming back but just some comments/observations on first Test XI….

    – 5 frontline bowlers: I like this away from home and with inexperienced bowling lineup. After all the only way you will win a test is getting 20 wickets. It does leave a long tail however.

    – of the remaining 6 players in the side which are the top 6 positions in the batting 3 are wicketkeepers. One is captain so has to be picked. But 3 seems wasted selections. Surely there is better frontline first class batsman in the country than those that also don the gloves. Otherwise some deep, deep issues going on.

    – The selection of spinners is interesting. Traditionally most West Indies sides have not liked turning pitches and mystery spinners or rare ones like Chinamen bowlers that they don’t see very often have not been picked and played very well by their batsmen even against part-time versions of these and within much stronger West Indian sides.
But here two relatively orthodox spinners were chosen to play and the chinaman left at home.

Some credit to the West Indian middle/lower order for the fightback. To see the likes of Bishoo and more so Roach hang around and make around the 40 odd mark is demoralising for SL bowlers.
Then the windies quicks turned on the heat in that short stint in ways they hadn’t done for years

  3. If a straightforward chance
If a straightforward chance offered by Dowrich off Dilruwan before he had even 20 was taken at slip by Angelo Mathews this discussion could have been so very different!
