Sri Lanka v Australia – T20Is player- by-player ratings

TM Dilshan
Captaining Sri Lanka for the 1st time as the official Sri Lanka captain Dilshan entertained everyone with a blazing century off just 56 balls in the 1st T20I vs Australia with 5 massive sixes and 12 fours. As the captain of Sri Lanka he has done a world of good to encourage the both young and experienced  players to deliver with also great field placements and being strong under pressure, Dilshan will be waiting unleash many more brilliant batting  performances in the ODIs to come.  (9.5/10)

Ajantha Mendis
The once so deadly mystery spinner who was out of form, Ajantha Mendis came back to superb form with a World Record bowling effort of 6-16 vs Australia in the 2nd T20I to help Sri Lanka win the match by 8 runs. His variations and accuracy was too much for the Australians as Mendis ripped through the top and middle order in a jiffy to put them on to the back foot. Sri Lanka will be lucky to have Mendis in form so that he will be a weapon to use in the coming One Dayers. (10/10)

Mahela Jayawardene
Elegance, touch, soothing to the eyes these are few words to describe the brilliance of a non-slogging striker in the form of Mahela Jayawardene who scored a brilliant 86 off 63 balls to give Sri Lanka a formidable total to defend, Mahela showed everyone howT2O could be played with class. Mahela also shares great tactical knowledge with Dilshan and he also took a brilliant relay catch near the boundary when Angelo Mathews threw the ball back to Mahela to complete a brilliant bit of fielding resulting the end of David Warner in the 2nd T20I. (9/10)

Kumar Sangakkara
Came into bat at his at no 4 and 5 ,in the T20s to give Chandimal and Thisara a bat in the top order, Sangakkara  was magnificent during his short stay in the middle scoring 30 and 24 respectively. Behind the stumps he was a livewire, the quick stumping and his catching was good as any wicket keeper in the world. He also shared his views on field placements and bowling changes with Dilshan resulting wickets and also a series victory. (8.5/10)

Dilruwan Perera
Surprise selection over Suraj Randiv who didn’t get a match to play in the T20Is, Dilruwan bowled superbly with flight, and variations and also got the ball spin both ways resulting Australian top order batsmen clueless against his off spin. (8/10)

Jeewan Mendis
Impressed with both ball and bat, Jeewan Mendis scored a quick fire  29 ,and also put on a partnership of over 100 for the 4th wicket with Dilshan to help the Sri Lanka score onto 198 in the 1st T20I and in the 2nd  he bowled very economically giving only 23 runs off 4 overs. (7.5/10)

Rangana Herath
Was the most economical bowler in the 1st T20I,Herath bagged 1-11 in 3 overs in the 1st T20I and also added one more in the 2nd T20I  bamboozling Australia’s powerful hitter David Hussey.(7/10)

Nuwan Kulasekera
Bowled with great control in the initial overs with only 2 or 3 runs an over but struggled from then on but he got both Shane Watson’s and Warner’s wickets in the 1st T20I. (6.5/10)

Angelo Mathews
Didn’t get to bowl and hardly had to bat but produced one of the best fielding effort near the boundary with throwing the ball airborne to Mahela to make it a relay catch just inches from the boundary line. (6/10)

Suranga Lakmal
The slingy speedster played the 1st T20I, bowled with a lo of control and also bagged a wicket. (5/10)

Thisara Perera
Came at the fall of Chandimal’s wicket and only managed 9 but came back in final over of the match bowling Cameron White to seal the T20 Series for Sri Lanka also took a good catch to dismiss the Dangerous Watson. (5/10)

Dinesh Chandimal
A series to forger for young Chandimal as he only managed 11 and 13 in this T20 series vs Australia, but he will be keen to comeback strongly during the ODIs.(4/10)

Dhammika Prasad
Was only good in patches, bowled mostly the wrong length to the batsmen. (2/10)
