The Mexican wave, the drum beats, the DJ music, multi coloured cricket fanatics, the defining cheer and the massive roar from the crowds, the rhythm tic dance from the youngsters and the emotions of almost 40,000 in one place, that’s what we all witnessed during the world cup 2011 at the Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.
This time around Sri Lanka runners up in the world cup 2011 meets the current world no 1 team Australia in a do or die game on 20th August Saturday where the tourist leading 2-1.Sri Lanka having bounced back from the 2back to back defeats have came to the party winning the 3rd by 78 runs.
Nevertheless the 4th ODI holds Sri Lanka’s survival in the series and they will have to put up their best to beat a tough Australian unit.
Always cricket crazy Sri Lankans will fill the stadium stands full with lot of colour, dance and with hope of a victory celebration. As was in the world cup the atmosphere will be similar or even better with lots of Aussie tourists arriving to cheer their side on. Plenty of cricket fans will want to be on TV, but their best hope is to carry a impressive sign board, and even a bit of shuffling would help.
If Kandy had a blast, Hambantota was a cracker we could be in for 2 blockbuster nights in Colombo as the series itself is reaching for a climax.
