Mahela Jayawardene posted on Twitter today his dismay over an article that appeared on the Daily Mirror newspaper on March 18, while the team is in the midst of an important World Cup campaign in Bangladesh.

"I’m really sad [and] disappointed to hear what’s been in the papers back home," Jayawardene said. "Why do people go out of their way to make things harder for us?"

The writer of the article Channaka De Silva says that Kumar Sangakkara and Jayawardene have delivered "the ultimate insult" to SLC and claims both players are "known well for showing their contempt at [SLC] officials publicly."

The article also quotes Jayasuriya as saying that Jayawardene and Sangakkara’s decision to not inform SLC of their T20 retirement plans was "highly unethical of them."

The article, which appeared in print today, has not been published on the Daily Mirror’s website at the time of writing.
