Sri Lanka all-rounder Farveez Maharoof has chosen to play for Wayamba in the forthcoming Champions League.
Maharoof qualified for the inaugural Champions League for both his home province Wayamba and the Delhi Daredevils. As per the tournament regulations, he was required to make a choice after both teams selected him in their initial squads.
“Choosing between Wayamba and Delhi was one of the hardest decisions of my career, but in the end I felt Wayamba was representing Sri Lanka in the Champions League and therefore it was my national duty to play for them,” Maharoof said.
“The decision was difficult because I have really enjoyed playing for Delhi in the past two years during the Indian Premier League and the franchise has looked after me and always been really supportive,” he added.
“Delhi were disappointed by my final decision, but they were also very understanding when I explained my reasons. I am really grateful to them for their support.”
