This was a post by me on Russel Arnold’s forum on Dec 22, 2009, just thought of sharing my views here too..
"Well Sanga seems to be handling a very tough team, especially having the legends who are least performing at the moment. However, i guess he is a smart captain and is not afraid of trying new things. Especially the youngsters.
He dropped Sanath down the order and had Tharanga open with Dilshan… AND it is working well so far… on the other hand Sanath failed down the order too, and he took the opportunity to make him sit out… He played Suraj Randiv who is an excellent all rounder in the domestic scene, and he picked up three wkts for us and also broke a brilliant partnership on the 3rd ODI. But should have played Thisera Perera yesterday as a replacement for ‘Mat’.
Anyways, I Feel Sanga is not worried about losing matches at this moment, but he is trying to try out every opportunity to get the best team possible for the World Cup…"
Well now we see it has worked well so far, yet the youngsters need to hold on and try and be consistent. I am just loving the way TP is playing, i second Hilal’s post on "Farewell Jayasuriya! Hello Perera". Sanga is leading well from the front, and in yesterdays game against India we saw the way the team was enjoying, eventhough we didnt see Sanga do so. Well however after last nights win, Sanga will join the part too.. With Chandimal coming in too, i hope Mahela replaces Kandambi and wowy i would luv tat team…
