this was the match Murali was called for chucking by Ross Emerson,and Arjuna took the team off the ground, more importantly SL end up chasing 304 and winning!!!Murali hit the winning runs! :D)
Awesome match.. Mahela scored a classy century too.. his first i guess
yup, i guess that was Mahela's best and most valuable ODI century even to this day
Gutsy performance by Sri Lankans that day..
can some1 post the full match..or the link please...
Uppercut : did you forget the 2011 WC finals century and the 2007 WC semis century :) great innings though i agree and a great win. Arjuna should have told Stewart to go fetch the next ball which was hit for four.
@Slion , didn't forget 2011 one but, it didnt have an impact on the final result on that match :D). 2007 semis, yes forgot abt that one :),
but still i rate that century vs England in Australia a better one;
Considerably faster bouncier track with all the chaos, controversy, distraction going around him( am pretty sure he too got sledged pretty badly in that match)for me that's very decent effort(not to mention the pressure of chasing 300+)
Yes... n he was young too... posted the century video in IC
Controversy certainly did bring out the best in Arjuna, and that has rubbed off to the team, who have become accustomed with having to deal with off field controversy prior to big games of late, but have still managed to succeed.
Changing the batter order and having Hashan dismissed early & quickly without eating up too many balls I think helped in this game.
This was century that got Mahela recognised. Not sure if was his best because those two in WC semi and final because of circumstance and sense/importance of occasion are up there.
If we had anyone else captaining on this day...whether it be Aravinda, Sanath, Hashan, Marvan, Mahela etc, Murali would no longer have played and reached the heights he did. He may not the best human around, nor the fittest, but he on the field (off field varies) he often stuck up for his team when he was in charge!
