who else thought it was sad that he only spoke in singhalese and didn't say anything in Tamil? Alienating Tamil Sri Lankan cricket fans, at least if he speaks in English that's neutral and not favouring one community over the other.
That was a monumental action by Sangakkara...even after the sad defeat it pulled at my heartstrings to address your own fans like that. Its only a game, you win some you lose some but in Sangakkara we hav found a champion leader and player who loves the country and will oversee Sri Lanka cricket reaching the top.

You realise not only Tamils speak Tamil in Sri Lanka right? The Muslims too speak Tamil as their Mother tongue.
As a Muslim I see nothing wrong with him addressing the masses in a language they understand. If I didn't understand Sinhalese, I wouldn't complain, I would be ashamed I deprived my self from learning the most commonly spoken language on the island.
OMG, Do some of you ever stop whinging or airing your "grievances"!!!
It would've been even nicer if the "alienated" Tamil community didn't camp outside Cricket grounds, block the player's entrances telling Sanga and his team to "go home".
Did you complaint to anybody then?
Sanga is not a polititian, he's a sportsman. Why the does it have to be about political correctness?
It probably came from heart, not pre-meditated. I am pretty sure Sanga's busy shedule doesn't allow time for Tamil lessons as well. lol.
Sanga did speak in English first, for a long time at the Lords yesterday. It felt like a long time, lol. All around us, jubilient Pakistani supporters were taunting us
Anyway, what is Nasser Hussein's native language? He was born in Madras and bought up in Essex. Very much doubt Sanga could've spoken Essex. His English is far more eloquent than Essex English
How many more languages you guys want Srilankan Cricket captain to learn? Will he have any time to Captain the team or play for Srilanka at all, if you want him to become a polyglot?
WELL DONE SANGA. U R Great. These days some Sinhalese also reluctant to speak in Sinhala. They R trying to be KALU SUDDAS In that case u gave a clear message to SRILANKANS living abroad where-ever U live U must know, speak and respect U'R mother tounge. Sometimes some people can criticize U for not speaking in Tamil, DON"T worry about it because U as a Tamil spoke in SINHALA that is the greatest part of U'R speech.Every body living in UK (Sinhalese,Tamils,Muslims & all Srilankans) must be proud of YOU. This is the beginning, next time speak in Tamil as well. "WELL DONE"

That was great.
Probably the first in the History of Cricket for any Captain.
I thought he was speaking in Sinhalese but didn't understand anything because of the noise (and it was unexpected).
I love the look on Nassar Hussain's face.lol. He didn't know what to say.

Could have been a tad more gracious by first addressing the interviewer , then in native lingo
