Damith and Andrew talk to a key player behind the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) on this episode of the show. Sandeep Bhammer, the CEO of Somerset Entertainment Ventures (SEV), explains the SLPL tournament's origins, its format and structure and the financial motivators for both SLC and SEV. Bhammer provides insights into the SLPL's future as well its sustainability. Hope it goes well. If SLC organised by themselves I'm sure the profit will be more than $2 million/year. They are taking a huge risk with some unknown company for peanuts. They make more than 10 times that amount from TV revenue when India comes to SL.

A good interview guys. WELL DONE! Looks like next year's SLPL will be messy with ashes and Sri Lanka's tour to South Africa.

Paul - Thanks for the comment. I dont think the SLC would have been able to put together a tournament this big by themselves. I dont think they have the people or the money to to organise and promote this. SEV are spending a lot of money on this too. As Sandeep said - their breakeven margins are much higher than the SLCs

I also hope this goes well - Hopefully SEV will prove how competent they are - or not. We will all know by the end of this.

Gavin - ya should be interesting to see how edition 2 goes next year. I see a lot of trouble but hopefully they can sort it all out.

well done muga and andrew.I rate this as the best podcast you have done so far.now i am more thrilled about the tournament and more hope about this gonna be a successful one.
