It's been years! Asanka has been forgotten but he played some crucial knocks and contributed greatly to our '96 Wills World Cup win. Thanks for the photo Mr. Johann Dias Jayasinha and Mr. Jagath Perera.

So long haven't seen him. He was the giant in our WC 96 team, I still remember his pull shot in the finals.
Indeed most affectionately called "Gura" he was a big bastion in that WC team.
country could have got much more from him, yet unfotunately for mother lanka, we lost the services of players (gentlemen) like Gura, Roshan,Ranjan, Ravi Ratnayake, Roy Dias , hmmmm the list would go further.
lets simply wish him Good Luck and a peaceful future.
Thanks Asanka for everything.
never forget his wc 6....that was amazing ...........

Hey gura
hi...I always believe that SL 96 WC winning team members have lot to offer SLn cricket in various aspects. In fact gura, you can offer lot as a coach in grass root or even in national side..if baylis can why u can't...because unlike players before 96 triumph you have played most glorious cricket in SL u have played attacking cricket. It was in 80s SL played defensive cricket but u the team changed it...please come back and help..you Rshan,Kalu , Vaas, Sanath, aravinda, ...you r the pioneers you can do it (Sanath and Roshan have selected other careers)....good luck gura.
