I think I can understand why the players feel Nimal, the "baggage boy", gets more than Rajith Fernando, the media manager, because Nimal must have done a lot more physically daunting work than the media manager.
But who was left out of the players' list? That's what I want to know. :-)

the players must have developed the list based on their perception of staff commitment and their needs as well. however i understand the SLC stance.

But what prevents them from paying these people directly after they receive their payment, instead of asking SLC to pay them from their share?

if the players pay directly it would be akin to charity. then its totally upto them. but if the org gets involved then the questions regarding discrimination, criteria for bonuses etc comes into play especially since this seems to be a 'partial' list. mngt in any org would not allow that i would think.
org structure and roles and resps also comes into conflict since this seems to be situation where employers are deciding on bonuses for co-workers.
the proper way to go about it through the SLC would be to have a committee which decides on staff bonuses based on an identified criteria and with player input. that committee could then decide on the disbursement of a set amount.

i am also not happy with the huge difference in amount given to seniors and juniors among the players. four times seems a tad too much.
