Rex Clementine blames financial crisis at SLC on players

One of the causes of the financial crisis has been the players themselves, for they, led by Mahela, once again, pleaded with politicians to raise their salaries significantly.

There is some truth to what the writer is claiming.
It's undeniable that Mahela ad co choose IPL over country. Very few people can withstand the lure of money, and Arjuna was one such person. He never appeared in any advertisement as a matter of principle.
However given the kind of money on offer, I wouldn't really blame Mahela for making that choice. I suspect that most of us would have done the same.
Mahela is indeed a great captain, IMO second to none. But sadly he is not a leader of men like Arjuna.
If Mahela was in Arjuana's position in Australia with Murali being called, I would doubt that he would have made a stand like Arjuna did. Infact to be fair, very few would.

Funny! rex is like a broken record always attacking Mahela. I dont know how rex got a job as a journalist.
rex doesnt talk about what would have hgappened if we boycotted IPL and went to England that year! We would be finished! We need BCCI support survive. without mentioning any of that he's talking through his backside.
SLC is nearly $70 million in debt! Not even 1% is owed to players from that amount! pauw rex!
Please don't try to make reporters like Rex stars. Rex doesn't know what he is talking about. He is not fit lick the boots of Mahela. How Arjuna gave the SLC insurance deal to his own company when he was SLC interim chairman is well documented. So who says that Arjuna is not after money?
Our players are getting only peanuts when compared to the players from other countries. This is what the Sydeny Mornign Herald said a few days ago.
"While Australia's top players can receive close to $1 million from Cricket Australia, Sri Lanka's elite are believed to be on deals around $100,000."
Check out this article: http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/unpaid-sri-lanka-playing-for-love-20120201-1qtfz.html
So what makes anyone think that Sri Lankan players paid too much?
