There were many eyebrows raised when Nishantha Ranatunga announced his candidature to contest next week’s Sri Lanka Cricket elections for the post of secretary.

Interesting interview and much needed and I must say Ranatunge makes some good points mainly the reasons for building the two new stadiums - kind of makes sense and makes the balance sheet strong and gives SLC the opportunity to bid for big ICC events in the future. The question is should the Hambantota staduim been built in a more relevant location but I can live with the reasons as long as the facility is used properly and not shut down except for the odd international game.
The huge over spending on the stadiums were ot questions which is what I think led to the current cash flow position. The short term liquidity problem is a nice way to put it but I fear the problem is much bigger than that.
