Minister to fire cricket selectors

An angry Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage lashed out at the declining cricket standards in the country, saying that the team has now become the monopoly of a few players who think that they are indispensable. “It is high time that things were put into their perspective,” the Minister said.

Will be a good move if they appoint Aravinda De Silva as the chief selector again.

cautiously optimistic about the news :) one thing which stands out that all the three current selectors havent played intl cricket for last 20 yrs i think.. perhaps out of touch right now.. Aravinda and Arjuna wd be my choices..

@ Slion - good point bro, that is the reason Aravinda is the perfect person to be the chief selector, still remember the way he pick players based on the conditions.

Aravainda definetely, we sorely need him back. No one knows the younger players and upcoming talent like he does.

@daniel, against Ramiz :D))) yeh true.
The thing is Aravinda will be reluctant to accept the position with all the board politics going on. He sounded very frustrated the last time he resigned.

I got an idea - why doesnt the honorable Minister get rid of the selectors and become the sole selector! This unfortuanly folks is the problem is SLC - where was the Minister when the looting of SLC occurred under his very nose? What did the Minister expect in Aus? Did he expect to win the series? Where Mr Minister is the young talent of SL? Please for once wake up and smell the roses and keep your dirty paws out of SLC. It's absurd for this sort of political interfearence, its destroying SLC and the ONE common factor through all the looting and decline is the Honorable Minister himself,

I agree, bring Aravinda back. Speaks volumes about the man that the 2011 WC defeat hurt him so much he resigned.
