Kapugedara - cricketer or model?

When Tom Moody drafted in Chamara Kapugedara out of nowhere in 2005, to the national cricket squad, many wondered why. Kapu made his ODI debut before turning 19, in Perth. A few months after turning 19, he was given his first Test cap, of all places, at Lord’s, the ‘Home of Cricket’.

**KAPU** Thamai Kiyala :-) LOL
Kaputa
It is unfair to criticize him. He only batted 7 times in last 2 years.I found this from cricscope.
From 2011 to 2012 Kapugedera played 10 matches and he only played 2 consecutive matches once in those 2 years that against West Indies in 2011 January and only batted once in those 3 Matches.
Out of 10 ODIs between 2011 and 2012 He has batted in only 7 matches. in 2010 he batted in 9 innings and averages 33.16.

So do we have to give him a permanent position in the team, nurture him like a kid? He has to grab the chance. Look at Thirimanne. He also batted 7 most of the times. Look at Angelo Mathews. How mathews consolidated his position is the best example. So Kapu has to go home, do the home work. Prove himself in the domestic and A-Team levels. After that selectors can consider. Kapu wastes so much. So many youngsters waiting to get their opportunities.
