The upcoming Indian Premier League Twenty20 matches may see trouble in Tamil Nadu as political parties in the state are bound to object to the presence of Lankan players. There are 11 Lankan players in the tournament. Chennai will be hosting a total of 10 matches, including two in the play-off.

That's just not done. How are sportsmen responsible? I read today that a Buddhist monk was also assaulted in TN.

The politicians in Tamil Nadu don't give a damn about Sri Lankan Tamils. They only care about points scoring to gain popularity from their constituents. Its a farce and should be exposed as such.

Think the investors wouldn't like Sanga being removed from the captaincy and in this case, they have all the real power.

IPL wants Sri Lankan players so they will get them.

@ Maithri89 : Actually student agitation is going on in TN,All college and universities taking hunger-strike to supporting Lankan Tamils where they are totally against political parties like DMK, Congress etc. Which had put pressure on DMK supremo, Because his grandson is the owner of IPL Sunrisers. Where many asking to remove sanga and other SL players from the team.

I feel sports shouldn't be disturbed for this.

@ Hilal : Situation in Tamilnadu and Kerala is not good for SL traveling here right now.If the politicians do this drama then it may be 1 or 2 days. But this is student agitation, If continues then BCCI will change the CSK venue some where.

I dont get this but neither do I get the Tamilnadu issue, there were a bunch of international banned (indluing in India) terrorst who were beaten and banished. Not sure why this should be a problem, specially for a cricketer. This is what governments are expected to do to terrorists.

Sunrisers players in andhra should be ok but the guys who play for CSK is a concern since they would need to be protected 24/7.

and i am sure that this is completely a student agitation.

They can secure players during practises session and in the hotel. In India players rarely go out or leave hotels. But problem is during matches. Lot of people will be there so players are vulnerable.

After the 'buddist monk assault' in TN, there are calls for SL players to boycott the IPL,, but don't think that will happen tho

UP7 : Whether they boycott or not issue already started here, Students today asking BCCI to ban all SL players from IPL (BCCI had banned Pakistan Players). Situation is getting worse for IPL as students agitation just started in Chennai but now spread all cross state. All college announce holiday indefinitely. Pressure is on BCCI president Srinivasan (He is a Tamil).

If they ban then Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai will lose their main players.
