"As selectors, we don’t have any control over the IPL. We can’t tell them what to do and what not to do. He may be thinking that when he bowls at the IPL, his value is more as he goes as an all-rounder," De Mel told ‘The Island’.

when someone who has no issue with IPL sees mathews bowling we think shaaahh! thank god he got better. but when rex sees mathews bowling he automatically thinks hah! this bugger can bowl in IPL but not for Lanka!
rex is not a unbiased journo sorry to say...
De mel has a point, Matthews has to decide what is more important, if he keeps bowling, there is a good chance that he may miss the important games for SL like the WC final and CW Final. and that is creating unnessasary problems to the team at a vital time.
Matthews has a big future ahead with Sri Lanka cricket and I think he is short sighted here if he is bowling in the IPL. is he can recover well there will be many more IPL's that he can play
But it's not like Mathews doesn't bowl for SL, he always comes on and bowls his heart out when its required. However the problem is that he has to manage his workload, even in the ipl. As he gets injured so frequently he probably shouldn't bowl in the ipl so that is fit for international duty
Why not ask for a comment from His Manager Charlie Austin about it.
