Can Sanath's charms bring the best out of Sri Lanka again?

With former captain Sanath Jayasuriya set to be named Chairman of the new selection panel to be announced on Monday, there is some concern as to what he will bring into the table. But surely he can’t be worse than what the current lot have done.

Are they reffering to witchcraft ? What other charms has that uncultured thug got ?
Completely biased article prompted by the author’s alliance to Sanath. If not how could someone even suggest that “Sanath the political henchman” is good news for SLC?
He was good news for SLC when he was playing at his peak. However, here is a guy who is part of the same political establishment that is ruining not just cricket, but the entire country!
Wasn’t it Sanath who was the first to run to the president for every little thing when he was captain? Wasn’t it Sanath who deprived a younger player the opportunity to be groomed and instead continued to play purely based on his political connection?
Is it just me or does others too find it laughable that the author expects Sanath of all people to “keep politics aside and play with a straight bat”? Wasn’t it Sanath whom this same author blamed for being the mastermind, through his political influence, behind the unprofessional removal of Marsh as coach?
The impending appointment of Sanath as selector, possibly chief, is nothing but another step in the direction of completely politicizing cricket.

"......The current crop of Sri Lankan cricketers have several new trends. One such thing is to do as the agent says. You tend to get the feeling that country’s elite cricketers have somewhat lost that passion and pride to play for the country. Professionalism is an overused word in Sri Lankan cricket these days. Over the years, while covering cricket, we have seen some embarrassing defeats overseas and they have been followed by a game of football among the members of the national cricket squad. A trend countless number of managers and chief selectors have turned a blind eye to. With Sanath, you can at least expect that to change. He will get the players to mourn every defeat......."
Mr. Clementine on a rare occasion has got it absolutely right!!!!!! welldone to u sir.
the changes actually happening is a whole another story tho....

Good article by Rex, who has seen and followed most of the players closely than we ever did.

If there is anyone who can be bought over for a couple of bucks, it is Sanath.bringing out the best?????he might well do the exact opposite.
No Rex, we have not forgotten that Aravinda was brought in to the selection panel a few months after he retired. And that is exactly why Sanath should not be brought in at this stage.
Rex has obviously forgotten how Aravinda got his revenge on Marvan and appointed Hashan the captain. This cost us both the English and Australian series' in our own backyard due to Hashan's totally negative and inept captaincy.
