'No postponement' in West Indies v Sri Lanka series
By Hilal Suhaib
December 8, 2010 (Island Cricket): Sri Lanka Cricket's Media Manager claims that the ODI series between Sri Lanka and West Indies has not been postponed.
Despite Sri Lanka Cricket's official website directing users to their Facebook fan page, Thomas, speaking to the Daily Mirror, said the official Facebook fan page of Sri Lanka Cricket, which initially broke the news that the series was postponed, was not operated or owned by Sri Lanka Cricket.
The Facebook page carried the following message, prompting media organisations from around the world to pick up on the story: "West-Indies – Sri Lanka One Day International series has been postponed due to the prevailing weather condition. The series will be rescheduled to be held before the 2011 ICC World Cup." The message has since been removed.
Furthermore, Chris Gayle, added credence to the story by also confirming that the tour was called off on his Twitter account, which was later picked up by Cricinfo.
"There is no postponement. Everything is ready to play the series as planned. The first match scheduled for tomorrow is definitely on," Thomas said.
Sri Lanka Cricket is yet to make an official statement clarifying the matter.

This is funny: "The official Facebook fan page of Sri Lanka Cricket, which initially broke the news that the series was postponed, was not operated or owned by Sri Lanka Cricket."
Whats the point in having such a facebook page which really is not an official page.. Shame on SLC for another mess.

I got the link to the fanpage on FB from srilankacricket.lk itself. Now who operates that site?????????Typical srilankan mess
What a clown this Brian Thomas is. He was a joke on MTV - he knows next to nothing on cricket. He doesn't even know that the Facebook page is owned by SLC!
SLC IT manager is the guy who operates their Facebook account. He should be sacked for causing all this confusion. Ten Sports and sponsors may even sue SLC now!

Great news.
Here is from Daily Mirro what Brian Tomas told:
The One-Day International series between Sri Lanka and the West Indies has not been postponed and will go ahead as scheduled while the first match in Hambantota will be staged tomorrow, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced.
“There is no postponement. Everything is ready to play the series as planned. The first match scheduled for tomorrow is definitely on” said SLC Media Manager Brian Thomas.
Several websites carried reports that the series has been postponed to January next year due to bad weather, but Thomas said that no such decision has been taken.
The weather constantly interrupted the three-match Test series and heavy rain played a large part in ensuring the series ended in a 0-0 draw with neither match coming close to producing a positive result.
The five ODI matches are to be played between 9th and 19th December in Hambantota and Colombo before the tour is to finish off with a Twenty20 International in Colombo on 21st December.
A Facebook account claiming to be the official SLC Facebook account published a statement today pretending to be an official statement about the series postponement.
"West-Indies – Sri Lanka One Day International series has been postponed due to the prevailing weather condition. The series will be rescheduled to be held before the 2011 ICC World Cup," it read.
However Thomas said that it is a bogus Facebook account and added that SLC has no connection with it.
