Kulasekara to return to Sri Lanka

By Staff Writers | January 4, 2014

PhotoNuwan Kulasekara will be unavailable for the remaining two Test matches in the series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka as a result of a hamstring injury.

"Kulasekara suffered a hamstring injury, which was discovered recently and will be returning home," Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews told reporters in Abu Dhabi today.

Mathews said that a replacement seamer would not be sought, as Sri Lanka have fast bowlers at their disposal in the squad currently in UAE.

Kulasekara was not selected for the first Test, which ended in a draw on Saturday, after he suffered a hamstring tear during the ODI series, but had remained with the team.

Mathews said that he was not certain when Kulasekara would return to the island.

The second Tests starts in Dubai on January 8.
