The ICC World Twenty20 2012 trophies were ceremoniously accepted at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Sri Lanka today.

Emirates, the official carrier for the ICC World Twenty20, delivered the trophies to the host country at the completion of their global tour and the men’s and women’s trophies were met by CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket Ajit Jayasakera and ICC World Twenty20 tournament director Upekha Nell.

Later in the day, the trophies were paraded in true Twenty20 flamboyance and spirit with elephants, dancers and drummers in ‘Perahera’ style through the streets of Colombo to Independence Square where they were formally received by sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Sri Lanka Cricket president Upali Dharmadasa from ICC Chief Executive David Richardson.
