Nagenahira Nagas beat Basnahira Cricket Dundee by six wickets in the eighth match of the Sri Lanka Premier League T20 tournament at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium today.
Nagenahira captain Angelo Mathews, who won the toss, felt that the wicket would assist the quicks and he put Basnahira into bat.
Man of the match Shaminda Eranga picked up three wickets, but all of Nagenahira's fast bowlers bowled impressively on a quick surface to trouble the opposition's batsmen.
Basnahira finished with 146 in their 20 overs, which Nagenahira captain Mathews felt was a par total.
A magnificent half-century by Mushfiqur Rahim helped Nagenahira overcome the total set by Tillakaratne Dilshan's men. Mushfiqur finished the game off with a huge six over mid-wicket off Charl Langeveldt, which also brought up his half-century.
"You can't drop three catches when you're defending 140 odd," Dilshan said, pointing to his side's poor fielding as a reason for Basnahira's second defeat in three matches.
Mathews meanwhile was ecstatic, as his side remains unbeaten and on top of the points table.
"We've been playing really good cricket. Last three games we've been really good," he said.
