The 3000th ODI cricket match to be held in Dambulla
Submitted by Jagath Perera on June 20, 2010 - 03:29
It comes as no surprise that the Asia Cup match between Sri Lanka and India to be played at Dambulla on Tuesday (June 22) will mark the 3000th ODI in cricket history. This historic milestone would have gone unnoticed had it not been for a Sri Lankan cricket enthusiast domiciled in Canada Mahendra

NO NO! India- Sri Lanka 6th ODI of Asia Cup is ODI no.2999!
the 3000th ODI would be (fittingly) England-Aussie 22nd June 2010.

If we are at ODI no 2998 right now, it is correct that (although they are both played on the same day)technically India - Sri Lanka Asia Cup encounter at Dambulla would be the match no 2999.
Because it starts at 14:30 local time, that will be half an hour before Australia v England game at the Rose Bowl.
But why does the about person has to add "fittingly".lol.
'fittingly' because the first ODI was between Aus and Eng!
it's just that i read some articles about this on cricinfo.
and by the way the 3000th ODI starts 4 1/2 hours after the 2999th, not half an hour!
just presenting the facts; mad about cricket! nothing personal!

That's O.K. we are all mad about Cricket (and some, just mad)
Damn these time zones are confusing. Between the A team match in Australia and football in South Africa, I just don't know where I am.
Of course Eng v Aus game starts in the afternoon, and SL currently is 4 1/2 hours ahead of UK. My apology.
Just hope my employer doesn't see this. LOL.
O.K. first ever ODI is played between England and Australia. Still, unless this is the last ever ODI match to be played between those two countries there is nothing really fittingly about the 3000th match being between Aus vs England is there?
