Upon completing his stint with the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced that it had signed on the former off-spinner and exceptional fielder to bolster Sri Lanka's 2011 World Cup bid.
In a statement, Sri Lanka Cricket's Human Resources Manager said: "Ruwan, who is widely acclaimed as a resourceful and knowledgeable coach, brought in a wealth of experience in coaching where his career spanned over a period of 10 years.
"SLC authorities are confident that Ruwan’s timely entry in to SLC Coaching outfit will spearhead national team’s painstaking campaign for coveted 2011 World Cup, the tourney that will be jointly staged in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka."

Kalpage was a brilliant fielder in his day. I know I have some video of him somewhere taking a blinder off his own bowling in Australia.
