Tournament as scheduled sans three teams - Inter-Schools T20
May 10, 2009 - 10:08
The planned inter-schools T20 cricket tournament will be worked off as scheduled sans three of the 16 confirmed teams that were due to participate. St Patrick’s Jaffna, Dharmaraja and St Joseph’s are the three teams that have pulled out of the tournament.
St Patrick’s was forced to withdraw due to financial restraints as they had spent a colossal sum when they participated in the recently concluded limited over tournament while Dharmaraja and St Joseph’s were finding it difficult to field a team.
Nihal Fernando the secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association stated that they had to postpone the tournament as some of the top cricketers were on national duty in Bangladesh. The delay also saw some of the teams pulling out.
