Tom Moody opens the door to replacing Moores as England cricket coach
January 8, 2009 - 22:09
Tom Moody has opened the door to an approach from England to take over as the new national coach, after being identified by the ECB as the prime candidate to replace Peter Moores long-term.
The former Australia all-rounder, who guided Sri Lanka to a World Cup Final in 2007, is now settled in Perth as the coach of Western Australia. Before Moores was appointed as Duncan Fletcher's successor two years ago, Moody was touted as a contender with the all the necessary credentials and an interest in taking the job, but the ECB chose to overlook him and promote from within.
