I don't think that Mathews will bowl and I agree that Kaushal should keep but it WONT happen. Dilhara I have no faith in as he is not mentally strong enough and Suranga is QUICK ! I would have considered Welagedera if Thushara wasn't fit.
They played both PJ and Kaushal in this ongoing warm up match. PJ kept wickets and Kaushal played purely as a batsman. Do you guys think Kaushal can make his way into the side purely as a batsman?
Matches Innings NO Runs H.S Average Hundreds 50s
First-class 85 136 23 5043 158 44.62 12 23
Heres his FC record 5000+ runs at an Average of 44.62 is no mean feat, the current side is very good so he shouldnt be able to force his way in as a batsman, but he is streets ahead of PJ as a batsman and quite frankly PJ hasnt shown us any special glovework in the last few series to cover for his below par batting
Kaushal over PJ anyday for me. PJ hasn't done his job precisely as a specialist keeper as well. Time to let Silva to do the job.Wonder when senanayake is going to get the opportunity.
@Radcliffe about Senanayake, well have to wonder for a few more years, theyll call him up when hes on the wrong side of 30,what a waste of talent, and now they are not even playing him in the practice games, thats a JOKE
nope I dont think so, Actually SL top and middle order is clicking well now. Especially in Test. Sanga and mahiya avg in mid 50's thilan & dilshan avg over 43 i guess. And we have ever improving mathews and reasonably good form paranavitharana. So I dont think we have to think about another batsman.
n the other hand since we miss the service of Murali, keeper needs to grab hold of all available opportunities behind stumps. Especially from our spin trio suraj, herath and mendis. So once again better choise is PJ.
I think our selection guys missing a little trick here on fast bowling department. Because we need a good swing bowler not hit the deck hard bowlers like thushara or suranga lakmal. Because windies batsmen are so vulnerable against swing bowlers. In the past Vass has picked up gayle more often than any other bowler. We should have pick Kulasekara in to this line up. Likewise in our dead rubber pitches kulasekara should have been good option because he has that banana swing going early in the piece.

Gayan good point about swing bowlers. Kulasekara is there for that. I hope they select him.
