When Ceylon Today newspaper first reported the likelihood of Dilhara Lokuhettige making the Champions Trophy squad and the story appeared on Island cricket someone wrote a comment saying 'Ceylon Today as usual has 'stepped on the tail'(walige pagagena)'.
Think selectors should make it clear to the players, like Aussie selectors did to Clarke and Ponting that their style of play is not suitable for T20! and the players shouldn't whine and take it all in their stride and move on..
It is good to take the game to the outstations. Forget all the facility requirements. SL 'A' team and warm up games get good crowds in Kurunagala, Test matches get good crowds in Galle, and Moratuwa was once jam packed during the inter provincial t20 final. Just give up the night games in the outstations. Play a brief series with day games in the provinces Galle,Kurunagala Moratuwa are venues that will surely draw in a big crowd than the RPS. Dont try to play a carbon copy IPL cos this is NOT India innovate people try something different, try to get an associate national team like England use Scotland and Netherlands in their domestic ODI Series. the key here is to innovate and not to copy.
