Afghanistan Trash Srilanka A in a Twenty20 Warm-up Match. Afghanistan batsmen Mohammad Nabi and Asghar Stanikzai scored half century each.Where Mohammad Nabi fired five 6's and two 4's with a strike rate of 212.50 with total score of 209/7. In the reply Srilanka A was bowled out for 158 with 10 balls remaining. Well organized Afganistan bowlers displayed their skills. Every bowler picked up the wickets.

While this is no doubt an uplifting result given the obvious struggles and obstacles any Afghani team would have to overcome given the state of their country: as a Sri Lankan cricket fan this is concerning. This result suggests our first class structures are even bleaker than many of us have feared. It looks like Haroon Lograt’s warning that Sri Lanka may struggle to qualify for the 2019 World Cup may be a terrifying reality. This coupled with our U19 performance at the last World Cup should be a catalyst for change and transparency. The question is how can fans lik us across the world instigate this given the obvious challenges back home?
