Excellent work Kaushal, Milinda, Prasanna - Sri Lanka A thrash Canada in T20
Sri Lanka A team led by Kaushal Silva put on a stunning performance in a T20 game against Canada today.
They showed no mercy, crushing Canada in a 9 wicket victory.Seems like they had no patience to wait around to finish the game in 20 overs.
Not only did they thrashed Canada, they did it in great style. It only took Sri Lanka A team 13 overs to show Canadians what it was like to play with the big boys.
Sri Lanka won the toss and put the Canadians to bat first. Nuwan Pradeep got the ball rolling (literally), when he ran out Sandeep Jyoti and sent him back to the dressing room in a jiffy.
Trevin Basiampillai fared a bit better, scoring 16 runs off 16 balls. So did Abdool Samad who scored 24 runs. But both players were beaten by brilliant wicket keeper/captain Kaushal Silva and Seekuge Prasanna. Prasanna who had an excellent run with the ball in this match took 3 wickets.
Kaushal Silva's excellent work behind the wicket in evidence again with the dismissal of Sunil Dhaniram.
Canada struggled to put a total of 93 runs on the board.
In their reply, Sri Lanka's intended to carry on as they started. With style and flair. With an exception of yet another failure from Mahela Udawatte whose performance were nothing to write home about, nothing to write about to be precise.
Rising star Milinda Siriwardana scored a magnificent 54 runs not out. It all came together well for Kaushal Silva today, showing his skills with the bat too. Kaushal contributed unbeaten 34 runs to finish the game off. It took Sri Lanka A just 13 overs and loss of a 1 wicket to reach the Canadian run total.
Well done again Sri Lanka A team.

That's more like it, the gulf in class between our boise and the Canadians becoming more apparent even though this is just T20. Hope the highly rated Seniviratne, Senanayake and Silva keep getting better. Keep the reports comin sis!

This is a good start for the A team.
They have few exciting tours lined up against quality teams such as South Africa & Australia in the coming months.
This is the sort of performance we'd really like to see against all of them

Excellent report !
Kaushal Silva is a fantastic cricketer and is an exceptional batsman. What is sad is that the National selectors are only seeing him as a keeper! Give him the opportunity and watch him shine! We need fabulous players like him if we are to win the 2011 World Cup!

No arguments there Kiri. My sentiments exactly.
Kaushal is breath taking to watch. He executes some Cricket strokes to near perfection. Hope he gets the break to the national side sooner rather than later.
