Silva looks up to the heavens

Chamara Silva

Coming back to the side after taking time off to grieve the passing of his older sister, Chamara Silva survived many a close call to score a valuable half century for his side in the run chase against Pakistan during the Group A match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 tournament at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 26, 2011. In this picture, Silva looks up to the heavens as he reaches his half century. AFP PHOTO/ Lakruwan WANNIARACHCHI.

Considering the fact that the pitch was turning, the pressure, him not being a regular in the side, the fact that he's still grieving and that we needed a partnership desperately, I think he batted very well. Even though the strike rate should have been better. He's the one who kept the hopes alive.

A school boy player would have thrown his wicket away going for a slog, when he was on 6 off 30 odd balls.

Well played Silva, you belong in this line up.

Even the worst Sanath 'critic' would have at least thought of the Matara Mauler even for a second yesterday, upon watching Chamara Silva batting in the middle.

He could not even work for a single when it mattered, is it for this 'experience' Aravinda finally settled for?

Miss Sanath big time.....!

Even though he made many mistake to frustrate us in the start!!! he also caught up to the run rate later!!! u cant just blame him for the match atleast he had the temprement!!

What happen to dilshan no one is blaming him he just threw his wicket away for no reason right play a stupid cut shot!!

but chamara frustrated sanga really badly because he didn get the singles going!!!

but i gotta say sanga looked very nervous and looked like he was under pressure!!!

Mahela didn perform and also thilan samaraweera what stupid stump he gave away!!

SO DONT JUST BLAME ONE MAN FOR THE TEAM GAME I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SRI LANKAN FANS WHO TEND TO DO THIS ALEAST HE PLAYED 57 OFF 72 BALLS!!!

This will only give him confidence and i feel hes temprement was there to stay without getting frustrated.. The lions will bounce back it is the pressure we fans put on them thats hurting em right now!!!

Come LIONS I believe U can go all the way!!! we love U all and we believe in U all

Nuwan Jayawardene's picture

he played a good innings i think he did a good job and may have found some form which will be valuable for SL in the long run and that i think it will show in latter stages of the tournament

Come-on guys even though he didn't get on to a good solid start, he bounced back well and almost got SL home towards the end of the game under difficult conditions. We should encourage them, without complaining when things are negative. We are Sri Lanakan lions don't act like the Indian fans when things don't go in our way.

We can do this LIONS go for the cup!
